Airbus Defence and Space (Spain) and ArianeGroup have signed a new supply agreement for the operational phase of Ariane 6. The contract covers the delivery of 27 shipsets, including large lightweight carbon fiber structures for the Ariane 6 launch vehicle.

This contract further strengthens European industrial cooperation and triggers activities at several Ariane 6 production sites, particularly in Bremen, Les Mureaux, and Kourou.

According to the Head of Airbus Space Systems in Spain, Raquel González Sola, this agreement reinforces the company’s commitment to Europe’s access to space. “By deepening our long-standing collaboration with ArianeGroup, we are not only supplying innovative lightweight structures, but also directly contributing to the success of the industrial ramp-up of Ariane 6,” she said. She added: “Our teams in Spain are proud to provide the advanced carbon fiber technology that is essential to making Europe’s heavy-lift launcher a global benchmark for reliability.”

It is worth noting that Airbus manufactures the interface structures for both the main and upper stages of Ariane 6, the standard and heavy versions of the launch vehicle adapter for the upper stage, as well as the upper components of all Ariane 6 boosters.

For her part, ArianeGroup’s Chief Procurement Officer, Anne Quillon, stated that the agreement represents an important step in ensuring a robust production ramp-up and the operational phase of Ariane 6 in the coming years.

“Together with our European industrial partners, we are fulfilling our commitments to Ariane 6’s commercial and institutional customers and ensuring Europe’s autonomous access to space,” she said.
