Launched by Seville City Council in 2018 to boost the city’s involvement in ‘World Space Week’—in which Seville had already been participating since 2016— the Space Forum was established as a public-private governance model with a supra-local focus, committed to strengthening the space sector through communication, outreach and education.
The Space Forum has established itself as a space for collaboration, dialogue and shared strategy based on trust, generosity and the voluntary participation of the more than 50 organisations that make it up, including public administrations, research centres, universities, associations, major companies in the sector and start-ups.

The initiative is involved in a wide range of activities throughout the year, including:
- Active participation in World Space Week since its inception.
- The organisation of the Andalusian Space Conference.
- Collaboration in the signing of an agreement in the Andalusian Parliament to promote the space sector.
- Working alongside the City Council to secure the headquarters of the Spanish Space Agency and the Presidency of the Community of Ariane Cities (CVA).
- Coordinating over 150 activities in 2024 to mark the Presidency of the Community of Ariane Cities (CVA).
- Maintaining its own exhibition spaces at the Science Fair and at NISE.
The only requirement for an organisation to become a member of the Space Forum is that it organises at least one activity related to space knowledge, industry, art, economic development or research, preferably during World Space Week, which takes place between 4 and 10 October each year.
Organisations are linked to the Space Forum via an email list and by attending the two or three meetings held throughout the year.
The Space Forum coordinator is supported in his work by Seville City Council and a technical secretariat responsible for organising the forum’s meetings and for communicating and publicising the activities carried out.
