Seville’s mayor, José Luis Sanz, presented the project, which he said would ‘place Seville at the forefront of urban development in Spain and at the head of the European aerospace sector’. The event was also attended by Jorge Paradela, the Regional Minister of Industry, Energy and Mines of the Regional Government of Andalusia.
Spanning 10 million square metres, the new district will comprise 24,000 homes, 800,000 square metres of space for industrial and logistics use, and 3.2 million square metres for other activities. It will also be integrated with the new SE-35 (SE-Verde) ring road, which will significantly improve connectivity in the area.
“The Aerospace District responds to two major objectives: expanding the housing supply and consolidating Seville as the aerospace capital of southern Europe,” Sanz stressed.
According to the mayor, this urban development represents ‘a historic opportunity to project Seville towards a sustainable, innovative future with the capacity to generate employment and wealth’.
The launch of the Aerospace District forms part of a broader strategy encompassing two other significant urban development projects: the Port District and the Technology District. The aim of all three is to transform the city’s economic model and establish it as a benchmark for innovation, sustainability, and attracting talent in southern Europe.
