Presentation of the Magazine “CSIC Investigates: Space”

The sixth issue of the magazine ‘CSIC INVESTIGA’ travels to one of the most attractive physical settings: the Universe. The scientific institution makes visible the research carried out in astrophysics and astronomy, given that Spain is among the 10 most productive countries in space sciences. The CSIC investigates:

  • Exploration of Mars, Venus, Jupiter, Mercury
  • Stars and galaxies
  • Gravity (waves and black holes)
  • Exoplanets

The presentation event will begin with the intervention of Rafael Bachiller, disseminator of excellence and director of the National Astronomical Observatory (IGN). In the debate, the following scientific topics will be addressed:

  • José Carlos del Toro, from the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (IAA/CSIC), will talk about the relevance of the study of the Sun.
  • Nanda Rea, from the Institute of Space Sciences (ICE/CSIC), will talk about pulsars and neutron stars: the most extreme objects in the Universe.
  • Montserrat Villar </ strong>, from the Center for Astrobiology, (CAB / CSIC-INTA), will dedicate her words to the formation and evolution of galaxies. </ li>
  • Jesús Aceituno, director of the Calar Alto Observatory (CSIC/Junta de Andalucía), will focus on the projects developed at the Calar Alto Observatory, such as the search for exoplanets.

The event will be closed by the President of the CSIC, Eloísa del Pino.
