The Spanish Air and Space Force, on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, and the multinational technology company GMV have signed an agreement to install an antenna from the company’s Focusear system at Morón de la Frontera Air Base (Seville) for satellite tracking.
Through this agreement, the Space Operations and Surveillance Center (COVE) of the Space Command (MESPA) will also have access to data from GMV’s Focusear system. The infrastructure to be deployed at Morón Air Base consists of a 2.7-meter-diameter parabolic antenna designed to receive signals emitted by satellites without generating emissions or electromagnetic interference, thus ensuring completely safe operation.
The Focusear system, developed entirely by the Spanish company, is a passive sensor solution that enables automated and continuous tracking of all satellites transmitting over Europe from geostationary orbit.
GMV’s CEO, Jesús B. Serrano, highlighted the company’s commitment to strengthening national sovereign capabilities in space and defence.
