ALTER opens a new subsidiary in the United States as a boost to transatlantic cooperation

ALTER, the international leader in semiconductor assembly, testing, qualification, and radiation services, headquartered at the Sevilla TechPark technology park, is expanding its global presence with the opening of a semiconductor testing center in Minnesota, specifically in Plymouth. The facilities, operational since October and officially inaugurated on 18 November 2025, cover an area of 14,000 square meters, including a Class 10,000 clean room with 4,000 square meters equipped with state-of-the-art testing equipment.

ALTER US aims to position itself as a leading provider of outsourced semiconductor assembly and testing (OSAT) services in the United States, offering wafer and final testing, qualification, radiation, and technology analysis, with tailored solutions for sectors such as defense, aerospace, medicine, photonics, and energy. The company highlights Minnesota as a strategic location due to its industrial ecosystem, skilled workforce, and the national push for semiconductor manufacturing under the CHIPS Act.

The new site strengthens Minnesota’s microelectronics ecosystem by providing critical back-end capabilities that secure the supply chain for key end-use industries. The expansion has been supported by the state, the city of Plymouth, and the Minnesota CHIPS Coalition Workforce Partnership.

This opening also marks another step in transatlantic cooperation, reinforcing ALTER’s and TÜV NORD GROUP’s commitment to innovation and high-reliability microelectronics. ALTER maintains an international presence in Germany, Spain, France, and the United Kingdom, backed by the global reach of the TÜV NORD GROUP, which operates in more than 100 countries.
