Seville City Council has brought to a close another edition of World Space Week, which has once again established the capital of Andalusia as the Spanish city organising the greatest number of activities for the second year running.<\/p>\n
More than 80 per cent of the activities registered in Spain with the World Space Week Association took place in Seville, with a programme comprising over 70 initiatives, making the city one of the country\u2019s leading centres for space-related outreach, knowledge and innovation.<\/p>\n
Among the activities organised, the launch of the third edition of New Space & Solutions, held at the Casa de la Ciencia, was a highlight. The programme also included visits to the Airbus plant in Tablada and to CATEC, as well as the conference \u2018Challenges in Satellite Communications\u2019, organised by the Official Association of Telecommunications Engineers of Western Andalusia and Ceuta (COITAOC).<\/p>\n
In addition, two events were held at the Spanish Space Agency\u2019s headquarters: \u2018Sky of the Month: Astronomy and Public Outreach\u2019, in collaboration with the Seville Astronomy Association, and \u2018Atlantic Constellation: From Talent to Space\u2019. The programme was rounded off with workshops, planetarium sessions, talks for students with researchers, and activities aimed at families, bringing space-related knowledge and culture to audiences of all ages.<\/p>\n
The \u2018Solar Observation\/#Eclipse2027\u2019 event, organised by AstroEmociones in collaboration with Torre Sevilla, gave participants the chance to observe the sun through telescopes and learn more about the next major astronomical event: the solar eclipse on 2 August 2027. This event has now been included in Seville City Council\u2019s roadmap for the coming months, during which it will continue to promote initiatives aimed at bringing astronomy and science closer to the public and further developing a culture of space exploration in the city.<\/p>\n
The conclusion of this year\u2019s World Space Week highlights how Seville has managed to keep alive the momentum generated since it first hosted this international event. The City Council\u2019s \u2018Seville, Spanish Space Capital\u2019 initiative and the work carried out within the framework of the Space Forum have helped to consolidate an ever-expanding space ecosystem, which encompasses businesses, universities, research centres, innovation organisations and the general public.<\/p>\n
