The Casa Consistorial hosted the 2nd Council of Mayors of the Community of Ariane Cities (CVA), a key event for cooperation between cities in the European space sector. Seville City Council, through the second deputy mayor, Álvaro Pimentel, formally handed over the baton of the presidency of the AVC to Fabian Jordan, president of Mulhouse Alsace Agglomération, who will hold the presidency of Ariane Cities 2025.

‘From this City Council, we are very happy and honoured to welcome you to Seville. We are delighted to have the opportunity to demonstrate our hospitality, showing you the best that we have, which is our beautiful city,’ said Álvaro Pimentel. ‘We welcome you with the satisfaction of having completed an intense year of work, in which more than 90 activities have been carried out and attended by around 6000 people, and which has been a great success,’ he added.

The event, which was held in the Dining Room of the Town Hall, was attended by a delegation from Mulhouse Alsace Agglomération; Gaele Winters, general delegate of CVA; Raúl Medina, head of the Launchers and Dispensers programme at Airbus Defence and Space; Zoltan Bartalis, Engineer at the European Space Agency and a large group of members of CVA, representatives of the city councils of the Ariane cities and members of the Space Forum.

Gaele Winters, AVC Delegate General, welcomed Zoltan Bartalis, ESA (European Space Agency) Earth Observation Exploitation Engineer, who gave a lecture entitled ‘Earth Observation for Urban Development’.

The Ariane Cross will travel through Seville

The ArianeCross Committee and the city of Seville have organised the 45th edition of the ARIANE CROSS competition, which will be held tomorrow, 16 November, and which will run through the streets of Seville, putting the finishing touch to the Ariane 2024 Seville City Presidency. The event is supported by ArianeGroup, Arianespace, CNES, CVA and Seville City Council. The ArianeCross will feature 534 runners from different countries, with participants from 24 leading companies in the European space sector, who will start their route from the Maria Luisa Park.
