The Spanish Space Agency has published a new public employment call to fill 16 permanent staff positions based in Seville. The offer includes senior roles such as department and area heads, as well as senior technical profiles, in a selection process that will be carried out through a competitive examination and merit-based system.
According to the Official State Gazette (BOE), the examination phase will account for 60% of the final score, while the merit-based assessment will represent the remaining 40%. Specific requirements and conditions for each position are detailed in the official call, which regulates both access and the functions associated with each role.
The examination process will consist of two eliminatory tests. The first will be a written exam based on a practical case, lasting two hours, in which technical knowledge, clarity of expression, and the ability to structure ideas will be assessed. The second test will be conducted entirely in English and will consist of answering up to five questions related to a professional scenario, with a maximum duration of 30 minutes.
Candidates who pass this phase will be required to publicly present their exam before the panel, which may then engage in a discussion in English for up to 15 minutes to further assess their responses.
As for the merit-based phase, only those who have passed the examination will participate. At this stage, professional experience will be evaluated (up to 70 points), along with a personal interview that may contribute up to an additional 30 points, for a maximum of 100 points.
Among the positions offered are leadership roles in areas such as International Relations, Technology and Innovation, Science and Exploration, Telecommunications and Space Surveillance, as well as roles linked to the European Space Agency (ESA), sustainability, entrepreneurship, and space regulation. Two senior technical positions are also included.
In terms of salary, management positions offer a base annual salary of €68,784, while senior technical roles offer €51,589 per year, excluding additional allowances. This call reinforces Seville’s role as the headquarters of the Spanish Space Agency and strengthens its position as a strategic hub in the aerospace sector at the national level.
