Seville has done it again! Once again, our city became the focal point for science, technology, and space exploration during World Space Week 2025, which took place from 4 to 10 October. With over 5,400 participants of all ages taking part in more than 40 activities spread across various venues, the event exceeded all expectations, further consolidating Seville’s position as the Spanish city with the most initiatives organised around this United Nations-promoted international event.

Thanks to Seville City Council’s Seville Spanish Space Capital initiative and its collaboration with the Space Forum, the city has once again demonstrated its enthusiasm for knowledge and scientific dissemination. The programme included workshops, conferences, exhibitions, planetarium sessions, technical visits, the Space Gymkhana, the NASA Space Apps Hackathon, a stratospheric launch and a Science Fair, each event bringing the universe closer to thousands of Sevillians and visitors.

This year, World Space Week was celebrated with special enthusiasm. Curiosity and a desire to learn filled every corner of the city, from the youngest children discovering how a rocket works for the first time to older people amazed by the latest innovations in the Andalusian aerospace sector.

As Deputy Mayor Álvaro Pimentel pointed out, Seville is committed to advancing as a leading aerospace city in southern Europe, and events like this demonstrate that interest in science and space is stronger than ever in our city.

This success is down to the many people and institutions that collaborated to make it happen, including aerospace organisations, associations, educational centres, researchers, and of course the thousands of enthusiastic attendees.

From Seville, the Spanish Space Capital, we would like to thank everyone who took part in this event. It has been a week of looking up at the sky, of learning and enjoying, and above all of continuing to dream about what is to come. Seville has once again shown that its heart and mind are set on space.
