Seville hosts today, February 24, a conference dedicated to the PLATO mission, organized by ALTER Technology TÜV NORD S.A.U. and the Spanish Space Agency, within the framework of Seville Space Capital.

The aim of this meeting is to highlight the collective work underpinning the PLATO mission, as well as the synergies between the different actors involved in its development. Conceived as a meeting point for some of the project’s most relevant collaborators, the event will showcase cooperation between industry, public institutions, universities, and research centers in one of Europe’s most ambitious scientific programmes.

The programme will feature speakers from the European Space Agency (ESA), the Spanish Space Agency, the National Institute for Aerospace Technology (INTA), universities, and representatives of the space industry, who will address the technological, scientific, and management challenges involved in a mission dedicated to the search for and characterization of exoplanets.

In addition to the technical presentations, attendees will be able to visit the posters of the exhibition “In Search of New Earths”, an outreach display that brings the public closer to one of the greatest current challenges in astrophysics: detecting planets similar to our own beyond the Solar System.

The exhibition has been developed by the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (IAA-CSIC), with the collaboration of the centers that make up the PLATO Spain consortium, the University of Granada (UGR) and the University of Valencia (UV). It is also supported by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), within the framework of its Call for Grants for the Promotion of Scientific Culture and Innovation.

Among the confirmed attendees are representatives from industry, academia, local authorities, and members of the space forum, consolidating this conference as a strategic space for exchange and collaboration within the Spanish space ecosystem.
