SUMMARY:Postcards from other worlds
DESCRIPTION:This immersive experience invites us to travel through the solar system with some of the space probes that have photographed its planets and many of its satellites. \nFor millennia\, the planets were nothing more than tiny dots of light to us. With the invention of the telescope\, Jupiter’s bands and Saturn’s rings could be observed\, and little by little\, satellites of these planets were discovered. But any attempt to represent what a landscape of other worlds would look like belonged\, with varying degrees of success\, to the realm of science fiction. \nOver sixty years of space exploration\, all the planets in the solar system and most of their satellites have been photographed. Apart from their scientific value\, these images show us landscapes never before imagined. Today\, we have been able to see in detail the giant volcanoes of Mars\, the rings of Saturn\, the surface of the comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko\, the impressive frozen deserts of Europa\, the methane lakes of Titan\, the vertiginous cliffs of Miranda and the geysers of Enceladus\, among many other incredible ‘postcards’ offered by our solar system. \nWith the purchase of a ticket to any of the sessions between 4 and 10 October\, CaixaForum will give you another one for free!

SUMMARY:Dark Biosphere
DESCRIPTION:Where does life begin? Are we alone in the universe? Science advances and questions find their answers\, but at the frontiers of knowledge lies one of the most astonishing phenomena in science: life. Even in the depths of the Earth’s crust—without light\, air\, or water—microorganisms survive and develop under extreme conditions. This leads us to reflect not only on the origin and evolution of life on Earth\, but also on its possible existence throughout the universe. \nThis screening explores the most extreme forms of life on our planet in order to answer one question: Does life extend beyond Earth? \nRecommended activity for families with children aged 11 to 18. \nDuration: 45 minutes \nSchedule – Every Friday and Sunday until July 19\, 2026. \nUpcoming dates: \n\n\nFriday\, December 5\, at 6:00 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. \n\n\nSunday\, December 7\, at 6:00 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. \n\n\nFriday\, December 12\, at 6:00 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. \n\n\nSunday\, December 14\, at 6:00 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.
