Stratospheric Launch – FyCUS

Loading Events

Our balloon launch is a stratospheric flight that will ascend to an altitude of approximately 30 km in October 2025 from the province of Seville. The gondola will carry a functional model (engineering model) of our future CubeSat and a package of environmental sensors. During the ascent, parachute descent, and ground recovery, temperatures of -60°C, near-vacuum pressures, and high levels of UV radiation will be measured, replicating the quasi-space conditions in which the orbital satellite will operate. All data will be transmitted in real time via radio communications (LoRA) to a ground station and recorded in the onboard memory for later analysis.

Program

FyCUS invites you to experience, in three chapters, an authentic journey into the stratosphere:

Mission Briefing
Informative talk at ETSI where we will present the engineering of our CubeSat 1 U, the environmental sensors that will travel on board, and the scientific objectives of the flight.

Stratospheric Launch
Takeoff of a sounding balloon from the Seville countryside that will reach 30 km. The public will be able to follow it live, in person and via streaming.

Data, Science, and Return
Informative talk where we will open the recorded data, explain how a quasi-space environment is analyzed, and show the impact on the design of the future orbital CubeSat.

Three milestones, one experience: discover how a satellite is tested in our own atmosphere.
