NASA Space Apps Hackathon

Loading Events

This is the world’s largest STEM Hackathon, a competition held in multiple cities around the world under the umbrella of NASA. Over the course of a weekend, young people with an interest in the field (from all educational levels, with a special focus on university students and vocational training), working in multidisciplinary groups, will propose solutions to challenges posed at the global level by NASA and nine other international agencies. After the group work, participants will present their proposals to a jury made up of professionals from the sector, entities, and organizations, who will deliberate and announce the winning group of the edition, with the national winners competing at the international level. For their proposed solutions, the young people will have the support of mentors, technical specialists in business models, and helpers who are knowledgeable about the space sector.

The event begins on Friday at 5:00 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m. On Saturday, October 4, and Sunday, October 5, the hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

It is held in person in 250 cities over 48 hours, making it the largest gathering of young entrepreneurial talent in the world. This year, we will be in six Spanish cities (Seville and Malaga in Andalusia) with 70-80 students in Seville.

The final winners will travel to Cape Canaveral to NASA’s facilities and will try to time their visit to coincide with a rocket launch so that they can be there to witness it.

The mission is to solve a real challenge by proposing a business project related to current issues presented by a leading entrepreneur and, in any case, linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
